1. Sustainable Seafood for us and you...

The Monteray Bay Aquarium in California publishes a quarterly list of what sustainably harvested seafood is currently available for purchase. We follow these guidelines extremely strictly to determine what seafood to serve, as well as what not to.

2. Healthly eats we are proud to serve:

Tuscarora Organic Growers is a family farm cooperative in nearby Pennsylvania that supplies us with the vast majority of the organic vegetables we use at the Reef. Cooperative food production, marketing, and distribution has been practiced in this country for centuries. In this day and age, however, it is experiencing a rebound, particularly among farmers seeking to grow quality, unadulterated produce without the support network provided to huge, mass-producing corporations.

Cattle production puts an enormous strain on the environment (see our Mission Statement on the About the Reef page). For this reason, we have chosen to only sell bison or buffalo at the Reef. We have been fortunate enough to foster an outstanding relationship with the New Frontier Bison company in Madison, Virginia, which has been providing us with our bison products since our earliest days.

As you can see from the pictures or know in person from your visits to the Reef, our theme is based around fish and the ocean. The beautiful colors of the vibrant life in our fish tanks represent but the tip of the iceberg of the amazing lifeforms striving to thrive and evolve in the sea. If we don't all seek meassures to protect this abundance of life, it can easily be destoyed, possible to never rebound. Ecofish is a company that recognizes the importance of protecting our oceans, which is why they have remained one of our closest partners, particularly in supplying us with sustainable harvested seafood, since the Reef began.

Niman Ranch in Marin County, California is a great example of a small indepedent business of incredible integrity that we are supremely proud to support. Not only do they strive for the same ideals that we do, but they also produce outstanding product. Try our pork chop - you'll taste the difference!
